The Scalpel With Dr. Keith Rose

Dec 17, 2019

During the Christmas Season 2017, Dr. Keith Rose wrote a letter to President Donald Trump. This letter was shared on Episode 69 of The Scalpel and is posted here.

Written Christmas 2017   The Christmas season has many meanings to many people.  As a student of history and experience, I look back to that improbable Christmas miracle that occurred on the night of December 25th, 1776, when a group of weary, cold, and poorly equipped patriots crossed the Delaware River and defeated the Hessian forces in Trenton, New Jersey, changing the tide of the Revolutionary war and paving the way for the birth of our nation.   At that time only 40 – 45% of the population in the American Colonies supported the Patriots and those that actually fought were a staggering lower percentage. The men that crossed the Delaware on Christmas Eve did not cross it for glory, riches, or great attribution. They knew if they were successful, the work ahead of them to build a nation would be fraught with peril, trials, and tribulations. These men were bound however to a cause that would outlive them all, the cause of freedom that lives on to this day.   I, like many of my brothers, are getting ready for the Christmas season. We are blessed to be able to spend this holiday with our families at home.   Many of us have spent far too many holidays and countless other days in countries and lands far away. No one will ever know the reason or the cause of our absence, save the few that sit in positions of power who direct our endeavors and actions to keep our country safe and free.   We pass people on the streets every day and in the airports frequently. We don’t wear uniforms with ribbons, although we may have in the past.   Our missions don’t exist and overt support for our activities is thin to none.  If we succeed, lives are saved and catastrophes are averted, policies can be formed with more knowledge and our republic is protected. Middle and upper-level managers can take credit for our successes and disavow our failures. We are expendable and if we fail, we disappear without fanfare or attribution. We are not victims; we know this and accept it as our chosen way of life. To us serving our country comes down to risking our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor. We do this without question or hesitation.     This Christmas has many parallels to that cold perilous season 243 years ago. The British and their Loyalists of 1776 were opposed by the patriots who called them "persons inimical to the liberties of America". Today a large group of politicians, bureaucrats, and members of our intelligence community leadership have decided that the freedoms we so poignantly fought for are no longer necessary due to their self-ascribed ability to manage and keep the country safe. This perpetual self-licking ice cream cone of risk aversion and self-promotion within the power elite has pushed our great nation to a tipping point once again. You and other good and virtuous leaders who are trying to guide our nation along the lines of freedom are being constantly attacked by a well-funded opposition whose only goal is to seek and maintain personal and ideological power at all costs. The biggest cost being the safety and freedoms that our nation represents at home and in the world.     The majority of American people see the problems that threaten our freedom once again. I believe that is why you were elected. The American people are quietly watching the Praetorian Guard media, politicians, and career bureaucrats isolate, firewall, and control any successful solutions and ideas, from reaching you and other leaders, that will continue to keep this country safe and free. The deep state freely uses the tools of freedom to secure their positions of power rather than secure our nation. They have lowered the temperature to freeze out innovation and success and have whipped up the winds of dissent trying to freeze the water so that the river cannot be crossed thus preserving the status quo and weakening the republic. While this self-evident truth is casting dark clouds on the coming holiday season, I look back to the famous words written by Thomas Paine on December 19th, days before Washington’s famous crossing.     These are the times that try men's souls; the summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph.   The elements are against us, but the cause is just and our mission is clear.   There are patriots this wintery season that are crossing the river and I pray that by God’s grace we will be successful in the preservation of our republic by aiding you in the rebuilding and retooling of the stagnate and stove-pipped agencies that cannot currently provide the information you and others need to lead and govern this great nation.   I pray for you daily, please keep us in your prayers and may God Bless America again this Christmas season.   #MerryChristmasDonaldTrump #CrossingTheDelaware #DrKeith #TheScalpel #Conservatives #Democrats #Republicans #hypocrites #POTUS #MAGA #Trump
